What are ELL and CLD Assessments?

English Language Learners (ELLs) and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) students bring so many strengths to the school community. When we are considering potential needs for special education it is our duty as educators to protect them from over or under identification of disabilities.

Practitioners from Singh Psychological Services are all trained to consider the cultural contexts of students and their schools. They look at the student as a holistic learner, plan their evaluations to consider all educational, cultural and linguistic factors, and make recommendations that are accessible and feasible.

ELL and CLD assessments are not just translations of tests, but an approach that centers on a global view of student abilities and needs. We believe every student has strengths, and look for ways to maximize their educational experiences. These assessments look at data over time (when provided), educational experiences, and current bio-psych-social-linguistic profiles.
